An earthquake on the 4th of July?

This morning around 10, I thought I had severe dizziness, everything was shaking, I almost got panic attack thinking there could be something wrong with my health that I need to call 911, until I realized that it was really an earthquake.

An earthquake on the 4th of July?  On the day that we celebrate and commemorate the US declaration of independence from the Great Britain?  Could it be a wake up call to remind us to do something?  Is it because the earth would also like independence from us humans who are destroying her?  Is it to remind us that something has to change in the system that is not aligned with the declaration of independence?   Is it to remind us that there is more powerful force that could change the world in an instant?   Is it to remind us that life is too short, if you want to do something, do it now, repent, forgive, enjoy life and be happy?  Is it to remind us to get ready for the big change that is about to happen?

What do you think? Click and vote.  Share your thoughts.  Thank you.

To Each His Own

Each one of us is unique.
Each one has its own strength and weaknesses.
Each one has its own preferences.
Each one has its own destiny.
Each one has the right to live and be happy.

June is to month to take pride of our individuality,
Not just for the LGBT but for the uniqueness of oneself and everybody else.
For whatever religion, race, nationality, color, gender, disability,
We are still human beings of this planet,
Beings that are not even a dot on this earth, nor dust in the universe.

For at the state of emergency, state of calamity, state of war,
We have no choice but to unite, to live, and survive;
We have no choice but to be involved to rebuild lives, community, and nation together;
We have no choice but to accept, and respect, the individuality of one another;
We have no choice but to live with the different people around us.

For we don’t live alone, nor can survive alone.
We all need each other.
We all need to be together.
We all need the help of one another.
We all need understanding, acceptance, respect and love.

Sacramento Unified Goes to the Philippines for Its Teachers

“Raise your hand if you think that the United States can match the performance of the countries with the world’s highest student performance by outsourcing its teaching to lower wage countries. If your hand is still down, then raise it if you think that the United States can even maintain its mediocre position in the world’s league table of student academic performance if it were to hire more and more of its teachers from the Philippines or countries like it. Your hand is still down? If it is, then we need to have an honest conversation about what it would take to develop and hire teachers with skills comparable to those found everywhere in the top-performing countries. We need to have a conversation about how we develop and retain those teachers instead of contracting that effort out to the lowest international bidder.”  These are the questions from the article of Marc Tucker last July27, 2017 entitled:  Migrant Labor: Sacramento Unified Goes to the Philippines for Its Teachers,

In a globalizing world, outsourcing is inevitable.  Just take a look at your stuff at home, and they are not all made in the US.  Call a hotline or book a flight, and a representative from the Philippines, India or other countries will answer your call.  It’s not just about importation, but exportation and immigrant workers made the US economically stable.   With the exponential growth and advancement of technology, we can no longer control getting diversified.  We have no choice but to accept the changes, adapt and survive to the fast changing world.

The US has been outsourcing teachers from the Philippines since 2004.   Despite the challenges that the Filipinos encountered in the US, they are patient, determined and have proven their professionalism and their quality of work. They just need to be properly deployed in a safe and healthy environment and they’ll be great assets.  That’s why Sacramento Unified will  continue to outsource in the Philippines.  That’s why a lot of employers hire them.  That’s why Filipino dedicated workers deserve equal rights and respect.

The education system in the US is the same as the Philippines because of the Thomasites.  Just check out the books of the major subjects in the Philippines and they are all in English to the point that some students could hardly translate it in their native tongue.  The difference is just the culture, accent and idioms, but with English refresher courses, Filipinos can easily adapt to the language and culture.

In the US, Filipinos are not just professional teachers, they are professional nurses, caregivers, nannies, housekeepers, doctors, lawyers, engineers,  corporate executives, entrepreneurs and artists.   The influx of Filipinos  in the US is inevitable, same as the influx of British, Irish, Italians, Chinese, Vietnamese, Koreans, Armenians and other nationalities trying to live and survive in the new world  that made America a great nation known to mankind.

Fire, Fury and Freaks

Welcome to the phase of uncertainty, where the leaders make freaking decisions that are freaking the nation with their Fire, Fury and Nuke.

As the government of North Korea puts all their resources to the nuke instead of the welfare of their citizens all for the sake of power, threatening other nations while using their citizens as their pawns, the US government on the other hand allowed the President to provide provocative statement stirring a volatile situation freaking out the people and other nations that could possibly lead to the next world war.

The US as a powerful nation should try to deal with North Korea diplomatically for a peaceful relationship and a peaceful nation, thus preparing the nation and protecting the people for worst scenarios.  What happened to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons?

While this is happening, there are super freaks  that are  freaking the Philippines for their War on Drugs campaign and martial law, killing a lot of innocent people without due process, without valid evidences and putting the justice on their own hands.  Seems like a Purge movie.  Well, this is real murder and these super freaks are even proud of it.

Now is the time that we need real superheroes to prevent the super freaks in making their freaking decisions a reality and to stop their freaking actions.  Now is the time that we need supernatural intervention to keep them in SANE.

Why do people fight and conquer for the country,

When in the end, the country belongs to no one?

The Miracle

It was a total blacked out, the doctors panicked as the patient was out of oxygen.  The patient was surrounded by doctors, when the patient woke up, somebody asked to move her fingers, then her feet, the patient responded. The patient was expected by the doctors to be in coma, or worst  she couldn’t survive.

For days, she was fed through her nose and has oxygen to breathe through her mouth and throat, she communicated through terrible hand writing trying to be understood. There was a time when she couldn’t be understood, thinking of losing hope, but her faith kept her strong to fight the battle to survive.

They concluded it to be a miracle.  The patient fought several battles and yet she survived,  she is writing this blog right now and that patient was me.

“Life is temporary and volatile” as they say.  Today you can be very strong, but tomorrow can be your weakest or even your last day.   So better enjoy and be happy always.  If today you are alone and hopeless, tomorrow you can be surrounded by great people you couldn’t even imagine, like angels on earth who will support and protect you.

Sometimes you have to fight certain battles to realize what you should be worth fighting for.   Sometimes you have to travel alone and step out of your comfort zone to experience God’s wonders in everyday life.  Miracles do happen, you won’t believe until it happened to you.

The Easter

Every Easter Sunday is the reunion of my mother’s big clan, as she has 11 siblings, 2 of her siblings have 12 children, that makes us more than first cousins. Our ancestors have passed on the statue of a resurrected Christ made of ivory from generation to generation. Each family has the responsibility to contribute for the flowers, catering, helpers and other incidental expenses.

The clan has been blessed with the  inheritance of  lands and fish ponds.  Our grandparents are called by their Spanish names  Don and Dona or the haciendero and haciendera. They have left a legacy that the future generation will cherish.  With huge land, comes with huge responsibility to nurture and continue the legacy.  However,  it has been the cause of division  to some and unity to many.

It’s only when you travel outside the country that you’ll realize how fortunate it is to live in the Philippines with helpers to do the chores for you and assist you, a home service masseuse, fertile lands, abundance of water and resources waiting to be discovered and developed.   The wrong notion of being too confident of having inheritance has developed the idea of being complacent.  Until such time they realized they run out of resources.  However, it takes for an entrepreneurial spirit to have the confidence to take the risk and make the ideas or vision to reality.  Moreover, it still takes knowledge, skills, and experience for a project to be successful.

Being brought up in a very close family, coming from a big clan, having more than 50 first cousins, who are scattered in different countries and have an annual reunion during the Easter Sunday, has its pros and cons, it helps you get used to a big crowd and can relate to different types of people.  However, conflict is inevitable because of hearsays and minconstrued statements passed on from one person to the other.

There were times during the reunion, the day that should be peaceful and solemn has been tainted with grudges because of envy and greed by criticizing and gossiping other people.  I felt the exhaustion  of my relatives defending themselves from the hearsays eversince.  Gathering together with relatives in front of the resurrected Christ but gossiping on the side.  Talking like Gods as they make fond of other people by backstabbing them.  Exodus 20:16.

Reunion is not an election to influence the majority, nor a competition to fight against the other. Reunion should be a venue to talk about ideas that will be productive, beneficial and helpful to everyone concern.  A chance to talk about peace, unity and solidarity to continue the legacy that the ancestors have left.

I hope that this Sunday it’ll be solemnly beautiful and that this holy week be truly meaningful to all.

The Virgin Bitch

Meet Cookie girl, a 14 year old, playful,  dominating, happy and a virgin bitch.

Today I’ve witnessed another miracle, a successful operation of a 14 year old (80+ human age) poodle named Cookie girl.

Last April 2015, there were hesitations for the operation because of her  heart condition.  The doctor said that there’s a little time left for her to live.

This year, a positive opinion was taken to action from a doctor,  a chance for her to live again and a chance for her to survive the operation.

To our surprise, she survived the operation and still alive. Though still hopeful for her fast recovery, but it’s another miracle to be thankful for.

Cookie girl taught us that everyday is a great day and happiness can change the circumstances.   Your health can also depend on your emotions.  Since she is a happy dog, her optimism could have contributed to her survival.  Even with pain, she still tries to give joy and hope that life is something to fight for.

There might be people who will make you feel hopeless, who will make you inferior or even try to destroy you, but life is to short to dwell on the negativity of people and circumstances.  It’s a waste of time to let the negativity distract you.

Life has full of surprises.   God is truly amazing.  Faith and prayers can do wonders. Sometimes a hopeless case can miraculously change.  So every second is valuable and should be enjoyable because life is too short and fragile.  As Cookie girl would say it, “Everyday is a great day that you deserve a treat”.
