Mayweather deserves an apology, he deserves his victory.

I admire Pacquiao, how he helped his family from rags to riches. I even wanted him to win, until I read how Mayweather was criticized, judged, hated and even cursed by the viewers and Pacquiao’s fans.

Some misconceptions about the so called Fight of the Century were as follows:

1. Boxing was expected to be a bloody combat and not a sport.
What happened to sportsmanship? Why do viewers have to boo at Mayweather? Why can’t Pacquiao’s fans accept being defeated by Mayweather? Both worked hard and even have strategized well enough to win. But only one should be declared as the winner. What’s wrong with Mayweather’s defensive tactic? Aren’t we supposed to realize that being defensive is necessary to survive and even win? Shouldn’t we just be thankful that the boxers weren’t severely injured?

2. The fight was seen as a war against US and the Philippines.
Mayweather was seen as the American fighter while Pacquiao as the Philippine hero. Nationalism has nothing to do with it. No one has the right to criticize others on patriotism especially in the world of globalization. Sad to know how some talk about patriotism, while eating in McDo, drinking Coca Cola, using Apple or Microsoft, driving Toyota, wearing Prada and dreaming of living in America.

3. Pacquiao was declared as the good, while Mayweather as the evil.
The religious extremists condemned Mayweather as evil while Pacquiao as the good one. Why do they have to find faults even dig to Mayweather’s past just to put him down? Are you a flawless saint to judge?

Mayweather was judged as materialist.  Who are you to criticize him of being materialist when you even prefer signature clothes, updated gadgets, branded things, can’t live without a car or comfortable house?

At the end of the day, Mayweather will enjoy his wealth happily with his team, his family and loved ones, while Pacquiao’s obsessed fans will have grudges, hatred in their hearts and might even think of wicked ways to destroy Mayweather or others.

Hope these verses will somehow be enlightening.

JUDAISM
“Don’t judge your fellow human being until you have reached that person’s place.” Pirkei Avot 2:4.
“Do not favor the poor or show deference to the rich; judge your neighbor fairly…You shall not hate your kinsman in your heart. Reprove your neighbor, but incur no guilt against your kinsfolk. Love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.” 19:16-17

CHRISTIANITY
“Do not speak against one another, brethren He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?” James 4:11-12
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29

ISLAM
Allah says: “O you who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest you harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what you have done.” Surah al-Hujurat: 5

BUDDHISM
“If we find fault with others, we ourselves are also in the wrong. When other people are in the wrong, we should ignore it, for it is wrong for us to find fault. By getting rid of this habit of fault-finding, we cut off a source of defilement. When neither hatred nor love disturb our mind, serenely we sleep.” Sutra of Hui Neng 2

HINDUISM
“Why should you try to mend, the failings of the world, sirs? Correct your bodies first, each one of you! Correct your minds first, each one! Lord Shiva does not approve of
those who shed crocodile tears to their neighbor’s grief.” Basavanna, Vachana 24

For this, Mayweather deserves an apology, he deserves his victory. May love and peace reign over hatred, war and wickedness.  Let’s just all be happy.

Yuletide 2012 in the Philippines

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Photos taken December 2012 in the Philippines.

Yuletide is a term used as a 12 day festival, or a period from December 24 to January 6.

It has been seen in a traditional manner since it originated in Northern Europe which was then absorbed by the Christians to celebrate Christ’s birth, in which, for years, it has been correlated with White Christmas.

I want the people from the northern part of the world to see that the Yuletide Season or Christmas Season is not just White Christmas, thus:

  • It has a variety of colors like the parrots;
  • It is tropical like the landscape;
  • It is filled with big dreams of having a Rolls-Royce;
  • It has Rolls-Royce and could be colorful but in solitude;
  • It has the sparkling Christmas tree;
  • It has angels everywhere and they are in gold;
  • It has the Trading Post but only open for business;
  • It brings out ingenuity like the colorful bottled lanterns;
  • It has wine that energizes the spirit;
  • It has cookies to satisfy the senses and desires;
  • But more than anything else, there is the light, that enlightens us to appreciate its significance, especially in the dark night.

It would be great to know the symbols that represent Yuletide in other countries and cultures.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAVE A BLESSED YEAR AHEAD!

Cavite 2012

Being a president of an organization, means being a community servant to serve the underserved communities.  During our Dental and Medical Mission in Cavite, this adorable child was staring at me so I took a picture of her.  Such an angel.

What’s the greatest challenge facing humanity today?

Regarding the question: What’s the greatest challenge facing humanity today?

I think aside from religion,  mores, poverty, it’s philistinism that has not only been the greatest challenge facing humanity but has made a major impact in the society.

Deli France Diet

  • Pasta Tuna Salad –tuna, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, shredded carrots, & dressing  (Protein, Omega 3, Beta Carotene, Vitamins)
  • Baguette with Butter  (Carbohydrates & Fats)
  • Orange Juice  (Vitamin C) or Espresso & Water

At first, I just go to Deli France just to get a fast WiFi access whenever I get intermittent connection from my Vodafone USB modem and eat whatever is pleasing to my eyes. Until I discovered a complete, healthy and practical meal, which I called it My Deli France Diet.    It becomes an autopilot mode.  There were times when the waiter  no longer gives me a menu, only whenever I asked, because they knew what  I’ll order. 😉

Living a healthy lifestyle is not a choice, it’s an obligation to yourself, your family, community & country.  It’s really difficult especially if you can’t resist the temptations around you, but with self discipline, patience & sacrifice it can be possible and the effect will absolutely be  rewarding.

The ambience, the fast WiFi connection & my Deli France Diet, made Deli France one of my favorite hangouts.  Kudos to Deli France! 🙂

The English Language

Few days ago, I encountered a group of students making fond of their local teacher by mimicking his accent.  So I asked, what’s wrong?   And they told me, “it’s because their teacher doesn’t have an American accent”.  How absurd, when they can’t even express their ideas articulately in English?

The English language has a lot of variance, especially the accent.  In North America alone has different accents and dialects, like the Americans in Texas have a different accent compared to the Americans in New York or Alabama.  There are even a lot of slang words in the US that can’t even be understood and inappropriate to be used in a formal setting.  So, which among the diverse accents can universally be the standard for communication?

This colonial mentality served as a barrier to achieve freedom and has been the reason to degrade other people and even oneself.  It’s not a valid reason to be cruel to others because they don’t speak or dress up like the Jonas Brothers or Kate Winslet.   Living in an urban city doesn’t mean that you are greater from those who live in the rural areas, nor it doesn’t mean that your accent from a high class society matters and can make you a better person.

How sad that there are people who are particular with the accent instead of the content or thought?

How sad that there are people degrading others and even oneself because of this colonial mentality?

How sad that there are people who have gone wicked just to conform with the high class society?

How shallow can these people be?

***

Relax and have fun watching this video.

Warning:  Some of the accents were exaggerated and can be offensive.

Hearsay! Hearsay! by Marither

Hearsay! Hearsay!

What will you say?

Will you just play?

Then, you shouldn’t say.

*

Hearsay! Hearsay!

What will you say?

Will you just betray?

Then, you shouldn’t say.

*

Hearsay! Hearsay!

What will you say?

Will you just lead someone in dismay?

Then, you shouldn’t say.

*

Hearsay! Hearsay!

Why you are like a clay?

You form according to what other people will say?

*

Hearsay! Hearsay!

Why other people obey?

They listen to and follow the newsmongers’ hearsay.
