Islam in Another Theist Perspective

Through the years, Islam has been instilled on my mind in a negative sense based from the negative standpoint of other people and the media.   The generalization synthesized based from the news and gossips, without further justification.

There’s always a conflict whenever we talk about religion, politics and culture that could even lead to aggression or war.  Each has its pros and cons.  That’s why we prefer not to discuss about it, especially towards other people.  But, though we have different modes of ideas, uniqueness and individuality, our religion, culture and tradition bind and unite us with others and that’s the beauty of it, and that is why they still exist until now as we pass it on to the next generation.

Islam is a monotheistic religion based on the Quran through Prophet Muhammad.   It has been dominating the Arab countries for centuries and it continues to expand in Asia and other continents.

My statements are purely based from my own observation and viewpoints, which are as follows:

  • Respect for women – I thought at first that harassment is rampant in  Muslim dominating countries because men were deprived of women.   But based on my observation, true Muslim men, are real gentlemen, tolerant and persistent.  Just like men in other countries having different religions.  Harassment is everywhere around the globe, and it’s not the religion that could trigger a man from doing so but it’s his nature as a sexual being.  It is not the religion that should be blamed but the people themselves.  Women for overwhelmingly flaunting themselves in public, and for men who can’t control their urge.
  • Equality in the mosque – How fascinating to see people in different walks of life treated equally in a community wearing the same type of clothing without even bragging for Prada just to be part of the community.
  • Prayerful – Praying 5 times a day.  Meditation has been the key to spiritual wellness.  Same as in other religions.  I truly admire how they have to spend 5 times just to meditate and pray.
  • Protective – The use of niqab by women.  I find it very useful especially during the hot sunny day, which is a practical way to cover yourself under the heat of the sun without spending too much for sun block.
  • Muslim diet – By not eating pork which is the cause of tapeworms and other illnesses.  Their sacred way to butcher beef and other animals for food.

I am also guilty for generalizing people based on experience.  I hope we can all see Islam and the Muslims in a brighter perspective, not to judge them based on religion and culture but to treat them with love and respect as a human being.
